General Information about Antalya

Antalya is located on the Mediterranean Sea on the southwestern border of Türkiye. It is bordered to the west and south by the Taurus Mountains and to the southeast by Anatolia.

Currency

The currency used in Antalya, as well as throughout Turkey, is the Turkish Lira (TRY). Currency exchange services are available at banks, exchange offices, and PTT. ATMs are also widely available for withdrawing Turkish Lira using international debit or credit cards.

Language

The official language of Turkey is Turkish. In Antalya, Turkish is predominantly spoken. However, in tourist areas, English is widely understood and spoken, along with other languages such as German and Russian.

Weather

Antalya has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. In October, the weather is generally pleasant, with temperatures ranging from around 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). It’s advisable to bring lightweight clothing for the daytime and a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings.

Water

Tap water in Antalya is generally considered safe for brushing teeth and cooking. However, it’s recommended to drink bottled water, especially for visitors who are not accustomed to the local water supply, to avoid any potential stomach issues.
